Vorwort
Negli ultimi anni i principali governi europei hanno dato sempre maggiore importanza a sistemi di finanziamento della ricerca basati sulla performance, ovvero l'assegnazione di finanziamenti sulla base della valutazione ex ante delle proposte sottoposte ad un bando e valutazione ex post dei risultati prodotti dalle organizzazioni di ricerca. L'Italia si distingue nel panorama europeo per un solido ancoraggio al finanziamento istituzionale di tipo storico.
