Main description
Abstract After various bibliographic researches, the distant beginning of the presentation to the Bulgarian textile community of novelties and other information about the textile equipment and production appeared. In its design and implementation, the small book from 1931 is an exact example of the desire for selfless dissemination and exchange of knowledge on general textile issues. Nowadays, the conditions for the existence of the magazine Textile and Garment have changed a lot. While in the early 20th century textile artisan constituted the technically literate elite in the country, today the textile community now consists of technicians, engineers, specialists, teachers, researchers, managers and owners. The community occupies almost all levels, from the 2nd to the 9th qualification level, from the national classifier of professions and positions. Especially in the last 10-15 years, there has been a sharp expansion of applied knowledge and skills - from technical sciences, through economic knowledge, to a wide range of social sciences and humanities: biotechnology, ecology and sustainable development. These changes directly affect the author's composition and readership of the magazine. In the first issue of the magazine, the authors are owners of textile companies that have received engineering education at European universities. From the second half of the 50's the main authors are already young lecturers in the established departments of mechanical and chemical engineering, as well as economics and organisation of the textile industry. This trend in the writing of the magazine is preserved to this day. In addition, the active participation of students, doctoral students and young assistants who have taken the path of academic growth and meeting the scientific and metric requirements can be pointed out. The composition of the readership is changing in a similar way. In the beginning, the distribution of the books covered the textile schools and a small number of spinning and weaving mills. For a relatively long period - from the 60's to the 90's the magazine was widely distributed in textile companies, educational units, public libraries and a small group of individual subscribers. The changes and the transformation of the textile industry in our country in the last 25-30 years have limited the mass distribution. At the same time, the narrowly specialized and scientific nature of the published articles has been preserved. Most of the materials present research results. This greatly limited the mass reading and distribution of the magazine. At present, authors and readers make up the same community. Key words: magazine Textile and Garment, first issue, reprint
